I wonder if anyone can help me trace a date of marriage for my gt-grandparents? Florence May Chapman was born in 1894 in Mitcham, Surrey and married Reginald Louis Wisby who died in WW1. She then married again to Albert Sparrowhawk, born 1896, also Mitcham and they had their first son Albert in 1921. It is Florence and Albert's marriage I am trying to trace. I have searched the BMD from WW1 to 1921 with no luck. Do the BMD records show all marriages or is there anywhere else I should look? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

the only Albert Sparrowhawk marriage I could see from 1914- 1922 is to Augusta Stanley- Croyden 1915. NOW Mitcham came under Croyden reg district.. How sure are you that Florence & Albert married

Thanks for your messages. Shirley - we are beginning to wonder whether they did marry! My grandad, their son, keeps asking me whether I have found out their date of marriage yet and is beginning to think they didn't! He is quite keen for me to find out but I don't know where else to go now. I will try Ancestry, but I think I may have already looked there in past with no luck. Hayley

I looked on ancestry from 1914- 1922 and couldnt find them .only the one in 1915 to Augusta Stanley. perhaps they couldnt marry cos he was already married! Perhaps you need to work backwards from death certs, they may have married .later

Thanks Shirley. Perhaps I'll order their certificates and take it from there. Hayley
