Explain what, where, when and who and we can help! www.familysearch.org has the transcription of the 1881 census and a wealth of baptisms and marriages as well as some deaths and burials. It is not comprehensive though, so it just depends on whether it covers the parishes and time periods you want. You can check coverage of parish records by googling 'Hugh Wallis batch numbers' and do a direct search on familysearch from his site, using the numbers which cover the areas you want. As stated above, Ancestry has all the GRO bmd index images to search free and you can do a quick search on the transcribed images on Freebmd. nell

Hi Diane, You can look at the indexes on Ancestry for free - you might have to register but it doesn't cost anything. http://www.ancestry*co*uk/search/rectype/vital/freebmd/bmd.aspx change the stars for dots The indexing isn't complete so you'll have to trawl through the pages of the full indexes for some info. Have just joined up and finding it hard to know how to go about finding information when I have so little to work with. Some areas I cant get, need to pay extra money to view births deaths etc. Can someone explain it all please before I go crazy Regards Diane
