Susan, all the Scottish civil registration entries up to certain dates are available on Scotland's People at www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk and you can download copies of the certificates to look at. You do have to buy credits and if you're not careful they will get used up quickly! When you get back to before the start of civil registration, try FamilySearch and / or Scots Origins which both search the IGI and are free. Nearly all the OPR (parish records) entries on Scotland's People are also on the IGI, but if you don't find something on the IGI try Scotland's People. They don't have the images of OPR entries available to download yet, although you can order copies. Kate. |

If you need help, you will have to give some information on the board, i.e. names,dates and area, if you do this then you will receive a lot of replies. Hi, I found scotlands people v useful. Though it can be expensive so i advise you look on a free site first like Church of the Latter Day Saints. But like the person before mentioned it depends on what and when you are looking for. Regards Kathy |
