According to Ancestral Trails from 1754 the minimum residency period was three weeks. ( Hardwickes Marriage act ) Bob |

means was living in the parish at time of marriage.might have be born elsewhere. Marriages normally take place in the brides parish & sometimes grooms move there so as to avoid putting up the banns in two parishes |

AND applies as resident in this parish. In olden days you could live in a parish for a week and be classed as resident of this parish. Grooms sometimes did this to avoid the need for Banns to be read in two places. Keith |

John I have this appearing in my records too when I know from later census that he wasnt born there but she was. So perhaps they might have been living there at that time. Paline |

On parish marriage registers where OTP appears, does this indicate that the person was BORN in the parish or can it apply to RESIDENCY in the parish at time of marriage?, query relates to period 1800-1820. Regards Jon |
