how accurate is ancestry bdm

thanks alex for ur reply i no the lady in question was married but devorced so i was looking for the maiden name but im gonna look in case she never changed the name back after the devorce |

Well the indexes are only as accurate as the person who gave the information when registering - for instance with dates of births for deaths - some people didn't know the exact date of birth of the person whose death they were registering - so I always take it with a pinch of salt but it can be used to help look for a suitable birth. The typed index pages might have errors from whoever typed them up yonks ago when making the register books. But as for the transcribed entries, they can be pretty accurate but its always best to check the image of the index page to be sure. As for 1984-2004 entries, they were all computerised from 1984 anyway so should be as accurate as whoever typed them in the first place! |

does any 1 no how accurate it is please i have a death i no where and when it happened but it isnt listed on ancestry and i was hoping to find date of birth from the death thingy lol |
