There is a Thomas William Fletcher married to an Anne Fletcher with a daughter Olive in Southwark on 1901 census but her birth on ancestry is about 1888 which would tie in with what Reg says as she would be 13 in 1901 and 21 in 1908, is this your Olive?? Otherwise have you got Olive's birth cert ? Kim

Was the groom the right person? Are you 100% certain of her birth date? The marriage took place in Southwark..........the only birth on freebmd in Southwark is 1887. I realise that is not conclusive, but I do wonder if there is some connection Can you give us some firm census info for cross-checking purposes.......... Reg

well lots lied to get married without parental consent. She could marry at 12 with consent but perhaps she knew she wouldnt get it. She must have looked older to get away with it,providing of course this is the right person

Feeling very impatient now! Searching on Ancestry a week or so ago, I found what might be a marriage cert reference dated 1908 for my great great aunt Olive May Fletcher born in 1895. I posted a thread on here regarding her age as if this is her marriage cert then she would only have been 13 when she married. I ordered the cert out of curiosity and it has arrived this morning. Her fathers name Tom or Thomas Lillian Fletcher matches up but her age is shown as 21 not 13. I have ordered my great grandmothers marriage cert today to try and match the fathers name as I am still not sure. If it is the right one, why would she lie about her age? Would she have got away with it? I would appreciate some thoughts thanks Laura
