Choice of 2 options a) from GRO - General Register Office. They will want the year, quarter, registration district, volume and page number. Easiest way is to order online here: www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/ They will probably send you a photocopy of the original handwritten copy (or typed, depending on when your cert was issued) OR b) from the relevant register office. Sometimes they accept online orders, but most operate a postal request service. List of register offices here: www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/RegOffice/ They may send you a handwritten copy of the copy of the register (ie written to meet your request, so in a modern hand) or they may send a photocopy of their original entry, if you request it - which will have the original signatures on it. nell |

Try phoning the register office where the birth was registered. |

Hi If you use the local registry office to where the birth took place then most do a postal service and accept cheques/other payment methods. If you get stuck tell us where the birth took place and we will look for you. at the end of day they all want your money, in what ever form it comes! |

taken from the GRO site www.gro.gov.uk use this link http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/births/obtainingbirthcertificates/waystoapply.asp By post Click on the appropriate link to download an application form in pdf format for birth, marriage, death or adoption which you will then need to complete and post to us at the address below. To view the forms, you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader or a pdf compatible viewer (download Adobe Acrobat Reader free of charge by clicking here). When completing your form, please give us as much information as possible as the more we have to go on, the easier it will be for us to deal with your request. If you would like to see information regarding fees before downloading the application form, click here to view Certificate fees. Please enclose the appropriate fee in the form of a cheque or postal order made out to ONS (Office for Nayional Statistics). Payments from abroad should be by an international money order, cheque or draft (payable in London) made out to ONS and expressed in pounds sterling, quoting a UK clearing bank.
