Hi A George Henry Hickman was listed as an inmate/pauper at Leeds Workhouse (Leeds) in 1871. Is there anyway I can find out anymore about his stay there? Thank you Suzanne |

Yes, but probably not online. Workhouse admissions and discharge registers should be in the relevant county records office. More info: www.workhouses.org.uk/index.html?Leeds/Leeds.shtml which says 'Records West Yorkshire Archive Service — Leeds, Chapeltown Road, Sheepscar, Leeds, LS7 3AP. Holdings include: Guardians' Minutes (1844-1930); Admissions and discharges (1843-7); Adoptions register (1895-1948); Bastardy register (1844-1930); etc.' |
