hi Bunny, there is a rose hannan 1881 widow age 48 home duties dom treland mary ann hannan age 16 home duties dom i'm not sure of the address given but? staffard manley? john hannan age 10 address as above schooler john turner age 35 day labourer i dont know if this is what your looking for hazel. |

Hiya Thanks for looking. That the one im looking at but i cant make out where in Ireland it says she came from...Can find no place in Ireland called Tirrell so perhaps its a mis trancripton ??? Regards Bunny |

I wonder if it is an attempt at Co. Tyrone The image acturally reads Ireland, Co. Tirrell but other censuses just say Ireland and worse still, her husband Mark was also born in Ireland (from 1871 census) |

Hi Been thinking about this on the way home and all I can come up with Tyrone as well. It's the only County I can think of that has two syllables and starts with a T so Tipperary's out. I've just had a similar 'accent problem' up on Tyneside - so we know it happened. Oh and accents don't go away - my friend's sister has been away from Belfast for nearly 40 years, but you'd think she was just visiting here! Sheila |

I feel 99% certain it would be Tyrone. If I think about the sound/s, and how an accent could sound so different to an enumerator. I am remembering ''my'' Trelawney Fletcher, born in Suffolk, who was registered as Troloner. Trelawney being a Cornish name must have sounded very odd to the registrar, and maybe Trelawney's mother had difficulty pronouncing it, too! |
