Look like his baptism 29.09.1839 at Staffordshire(IGI) - parents Benjamin and Mary Ann as confirmed in the 1851 census. Good luck Irene |

Shirley, Yep, that looks like them, so the enumerator was 'mutton'. Thanks for your thoughts and time Kathlyn |

I suppose he could have been 15. If the birth cert says he was the father. have you tried getting his birth cert? To confirm his age. have you found them in 1881 (the parents)? Ann Glos |

I think I am going la la....some thoughts please..... Amelia Jennings age 35. (1835) and her husband James Hadley age 31(1840).. these are the approx. ages according to the 1871 census. The eldest child was Dorah aged 16, this would make James 15 when she was born. I do have a copy of Dorah`s birth cert. and her father is...James Hadley. Is there some mistranscription here, or was James only 15 when Dorah was born. The reason I ask about mistranscription is because Dorah is really, Medora and maybe the enumerator was a bit on the 'mutton jeff' side. Kathlyn |
