Can anyone tell me, I have recently bought some credit on 1837 to look up a marriage certificate for my Birth Mother but because I only have the Internet at work when I try to view my computer does not seem to have this facility. Does anyone know if I can view these documents using the Internet at my local library. Plus any tips for using 1837 would be great. Thanks. Geraldine

You can't see the certificates on 1837online. You just get the reference numbers in order to purchase the certificate (same as you can now do for free on Ancestry). I think you have to download some sort of viewer before you start (not really sure about this as my son does all the technical stuff for me). You should be able to use the library. Kath. x

You need a djvu viewer to view any image on 1837. It's free to download and there is a link from 1837 called downloads. But as previously mentioned, the images are available for free on ancestry . ps you can try the library but you'd still need to have the viewer installed.

You cannot view bmd documents anywhere without buying them. All that is available to view online is the GRO index for each category. Reg
