Help! Stuck trying to find info on a Pioneer

I have a 1945 birth certificate that lists the father as a private in the Pioneer Corps (Lancs). I have his service number. I believe there was no marriage to the mother. As I am not next of kin, I can't ask for his service record. Does anyone have any ideas how I can find out more information on him? The Births register doesn't help as there as several with his name and i have no idea which he will be!.

Susan, have you tried searching for his name on the 'Quick Search' above to see if anybody on here has him in their tree? Kate.

Hi Kate, Yes, I have done a quick search but to no success. I doubt if he had other children because i know he was with 'our' family for 15 years (1936-51) so i'm hoping there is another way. Thank you.

If he is dead, and if you know when he died, you could get an idea of when he was born from his death registration, but I don't think you will be allowed to look at his WW2 service record. Kate.
