Eleanor Maybe you do not know Ireland as well as I do! If only the Court Records were available in Ireland for 1810!! I would have solved all my problems years ago. You cannot even get church records for some areas for 1810. Janet

Hm....With the poulation in Ireland around 8 million at this time I am not sure how you think you are going to find this ancestor without at least knowing his name, never mind his county or town of birth, unless his name was Uriah Heap! Would you ask today to find an ancestor in London who committed a murder without knowing his name?? Without more info you really are asking a very impossible question. Sit down and think of everything you know about this person and then come back on here. If this is all you know then forget it!! If you know more, then spill the beans and maybe someone can help you. Ireland was as lawless as anywhere else in the world with murders being committed on a daily basis. Newspapers will help if you have some idea of what you want. Try googling Colindale Newspaper Library, but you will need to know the names of some Irish Newspapers for that, and for that you will need to know county of interest. Janet

You might try and find some newspaper archives for the time but I don't know any for the Emerald Isle. lol Brian.....

Has anyone any idea how i can find out about a murder commited in Ireland around 1810. It would seem my gr gr gr grandfather fled from Ireland to Scotland then England with his brother to avoid prosecution. He changed his name when leaving Ireland ( for obvious reasons) . Therefore I have a real but intreging wall in front of me to try and find out our real name. He seems to have changed his name to McCordall however other family members have also changed to cordle , cordel, etc. Thanks for your time Phillip McCordall .
