Thanks Jim for all of that information, but I think we are no further forward. I tell you why. It's true what Kate Rimmer has noticed. The Thomas Jobling born to William Jobling was 9 years old on the 1881 Census. Thomas was born about1880/1881. And his middle name was William, not 'C'. I told you this was not going to be easy. The only other piece of information I have been given in the last 24 hours is that Thomas Jobling died during the late 30s early 40s. Could you see if there are any death records for this Thomas Jobling during that period of time. It might be worthwhile getting hold of his death certificate. Do you think it may give me any further information about him? He was definitely dead before 1942 as he was not present at one of his son's weddings. Donna

Next: James and Joseph's parents are THOMAS WILLIAM JOBLING and LOUISA BIGNELL(or BIGNAL) NOTMAN. I have their MC. Married on 3/4/1903 at SS Register Office. Thomas William Jobling aged 22 years, Bachelor, Labourer (Ship yard) - residing at the time of marriage at 32 Eldon Street, SS Louisa Bignal Notman aged 22 years, Spinster, no occup, again residing at 32 Eldon Street, SS at the time of marriage. I've hit a brick wall with a Family branch I am trying to trace. So I am going to contact the Records Office that covers South Shields and employ an archivist! So can anyone tell me where the records office is that covers that area? Many thanks From one despondent Donna!!
