Im trying to find out who my mum stay with on holiday when she was a small child until she was 15 which would be 1939, their name was Brown but I have loads of Browns. Mum knows the address in Whitby and I was thinking is there somewhere in Whitby, Yorkshire I could write to who would know who lived in that house in those years. Mum doesnt know the name of the lady only as Mrs Brown. Your advice would be much appreciated, its just a chance. Many thanks Yvonne x

Looked on the b4usearch website and there were 170 Browns in Whitby. Perhaps someone could do an electoral roll look up for you In Whitby for the right year and then find out Mrs Browns first name. tough one though. Selena

can you get in touch with the local authority and ask them to supply you with the electoral register details for the 1930's?

Get the local newspaper to publish a letter from you. I find that tends to work. Denis.
