Can I just point out that http://www.freecen.org.uk/ has most of 1841 for Scotland - but only indexs - not actual images |

Hi Sharon, Gail here.Like yourself I have also visited scotlandspeople, and agree that unless you have exact details it is costly.Have you tried contacting 'gwsfhs'?They are a free site, and can direct you where to find information at a minimum cost .Gail |

Sharon not quite sure exactly what you are looking for. Maybe if you could let us know we might be able to help, or at least tell you your only option is registry offices. Julie |

If you are researching Scottish records, Scotlands People is very good. You have to register and it also costs to view images. It is a lot cheaper than registry offices. If you need any information on this let me know and I wil get back to you Julie |

It depends what info you want. Also which country you are looking at...........if it's Scotland, the only census on Ancestry is 1841. Do you have a subscription to Ancestry? If not, the GR members who have are usually only too pleased to do lookups...........so don't be afraid to ask. If I remember rightly, you were stuck with reading a name on a Scottish birth record..........well, that sort of info is not avaialble online for England and Wales...........you cna only see the index. If you wish to see the cert for any given event, you have to purchase it, at a cost of £7.00 Reg |
