Hi there: If you type in first name, last name and Border Regiment in Corps, but leave the service number out the following come up: Phillips, William S Corps: Border Regiment Regiment No: 23996 Rank: Private... 1914-1920 WO 372/15 Phillips, William J Corps: Border Regiment Regiment No: 36088 Rank: Private... 1914-1920 WO 372/15 Phillips, William J Corps: Border Regiment Regiment No: 33034 Rank: Private 1914-1920 WO 372/15 Phillips, William H Corps: Herefordshire Regiment Regiment No: 4534... 1914-1920 WO 372/15 Phillips, William Corps: Border Regiment Regiment No: 25302 Rank: Private 1914-1920 WO 372/15 Phillips, William Corps: Border Regiment Regiment No: 2418 Rank: Private... 1914-1920 WO 372/15 Phillips, William Corps: Border Regiment Regiment No: 15063 Rank: Lance Corporal... 1914-1920 WO 372/15 Phillips, William Corps: Border Regiment Regiment No: 21533 Rank: Private 1914-1920 WO 372/15 Service numbers were not always unique, each regiment started from for example No. 123 etc so the same service number can be the same in different regiments if you see what i mean! You might want to try the forum on www(.)1914-1918(.) net (remove the () around the .) - they are experts! Good luck and let us know! Linda |

Hi Barbara I don't know why the number comes up on more than one person, I was suprised when so many came up - I thought a number was attached to one person only, but obviously not. Will have another look on site and see if it says anything about it by way of explanation. Regards Gail |

Hi, No he doesn't have a middle Initial. How come that number comes up on different people? |

Hi Barbara 36 people come up using the number that you have, but no one called Phillips/Philips. A few come up for William Phillips/border regiment, some have middle initials, do you have a middle initial to help narrow him down. Regards Gail |
