Have just found that marriage record. Thanks a million! You wouldn't believe how many times I've looked for that & failed to find it. Good job some of you out there have a brain! I'll send for the marriage cert now. Thanks again. |

The address sort of makes sense as he was living at 31 High Street in 1851. That marriage date also fits as I have just found Caroline, not married yet, in the 1841 census living at Park Ground Farm, Wootton Bassett. |

That is the most likely one I can seeas well, he is living in High St Wooton Basset. They rounded down the adult ages on the 1841 census so 15 means age 15 to 19, so he would fall in this group. He is livimng with two other people who have the occupatuion of excavators May Canak abt 1821 Wiltshire, England Wootton Bassett Wiltshire View Record Thos Saingbury abt 1826 Wiltshire, England Wootton Bassett Wiltshire View Record Robt Scott abt 1816 Wiltshire, England Wootton Bassett Wiltshire It can't be May, becuase it is another male Linda |

Sorry, don't have a clue who his parents are-I've been stumped at this place in the tree for some time. Does that entry mean he was in some kind of institution or on a boat or something? |

Hi all. I am stuck on the Sainsbury side of my tree, largely because my 2xgreat grandfather Thomas doesn't seem to have known when or where he was born! These are his ages & places of birth as given in the censuses: 1901 85 Easterton 1891 73 Wootton Bassett 1881 63 Wootton Bassett 1871 53 Salisbury 1861 39 Market Lavington 1851 29 Wootton Bassett 1841 ?? ??????????? The only things he seems to have been quite sure about are that he was a carpenter & that his wife was called Caroline. The only reason I've been able to keep tabs on him at all is that fortunately he stayed put in Wootton Bassett for 50 years! I'm beginning to think that he must either have suffered from chronic memory loss or been a wanted criminal! I can't find him at all in 1841, presumably because he was claiming to be from somewhere entirely different! Any budding Sherlocks out there? |
