I have my grand fathers dog tag and want to find out more about his RAMC service during WW2. The website says there is a charge for family history searches. Does anybody have any experience of what you can obtain and likely costs? Alison Fletcher

Alison, Not heard of the 'Veterans Agency', but I did get my Gt Uncle's WW1 records from the Army Staff Section in Glasgow for about 25 quid. It's usually a long wait, 'cos they're also dealing with existing service people, but it was well worth waiting. Regs Annie

OK, just found them. It looks like an organised version of what I went through. Why don't you just 'contact' them and ask about fees? Annie x

I've printed the forms off ready to complete. Now I have his dog tag it will be much easier. I think I need to get a copy of his death certificate first and permission from mum (ie his next of kin)

Yes, I obtained my father's records from the MOD in Glasgow. He was in the RAMC. I shall nudge a military tips thread that will help.

Maybe because I`m his great niece but he had no family --probably my father is his NOK, Ros
