What a sad story :-( There is a stillborn register have a look here http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/stillbirths/ There is this information on the GENUKI website Stillbirth registration was introduced on 1 July 1927 to help protect infant life, provide a valuable source of statistical information and to give parents the opportunity to have their child officially acknowledged. A stillborn child is a child born after the 24th week of pregnancy who did not breathe or show any other signs of life. When a child is stillborn the midwife or doctor will issue a medical certificate of stillbirth which will be used to register the stillbirth. When stillbirth registration was introduced the the age limit was the end of the 28th week of pregnancy, not the 24th (as it is now). This is a relatively recent change following the greatly increased survival rates of premature babies. |

Any information on my stillborn brother. I am not even sure of his name, possibly Frank Caron. He was born and died on the 3rd of January 1974 but was immediately taken away by the hospital a soon as my mum gave birth to him, she never saw him or even knew what happened to him afterwards (he was badly deformed). As far as I know he was buried as I was told them in a grave with someone else (dont know how true this was) I know my mum and dad didnt have a funeral for him, the hospital just said they dealt with it all. I cant ask mum as even today it effects her to talk about it. So would there be a birth/death cert? and how would I find out where he was buried? etc, it probably would have been one of two cemeteries in the area but I dont know whose grave if anyones he was buried in. Any help/advice would be most gratefully received Thankyou Marie: ) |
