I am trying to find the parents of Elizabeth Skinner b. 1826 Grove Berkshire. The only match of Elizabeth I can find in 1841 is in Nettlebed (which is in the same area as Grove) but the census shows all schoolchildren on the same page. Am I correct that the census was taken at night? If so can anyone help me as to where/what this place is? Thanks Source Citation: Class: HO107; Civil Parish: Nettlebed; County: Oxfordshire; Enumeration District: 23; Page: 15; Line: 12; GSU roll: 474574. |

I had a look, Julie. I would say they were living in a workhouse or boarding school. There are quite a few adults living there also so I would say a workhouse. Susan |

Julie, Try the Henley Workhouse, that seems to be the one that covered all of the area, including Nettlebe. |

Julie I just typed workhouse nettlebed into the search engine and it came up with a couple of sites. It would seem there was a workhouse in Nettlebed. Susan |

Yes I have found it but not much information to locate it, the census shows Nettlebed Street so I guess thats where it was. Thanks for helping. |
