Can anyone help me to find the above parish records - are they available anywhere? I'm trying to find the birth/baptism entry for Henry Rose c1855 West Bromwich, it's not on the BMD index. The only other info I have is that he says his father's name is John Rose (glass maker) but all the certs. I've ordered from the Staffordshire area have been wrong father's name. Thanks Mary

Does he give the information about his father on his marriage certificate? If so, could he have made up a name for his father because he was illegitimate? This is the only likely Henry Rose I can find in the 1861 census, and his mother is single:- Name: Henry Rose Age: 2 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1859 Relation: Son Mother's name: Jane Gender: Male Where born: Kingswinford, Staffordshire, England Civil parish: Kingswinford Ecclesiastical parish: Wordsley County/Island: Staffordshire Country: England Street address: Occupation: Condition as to marriage: View image Registration district: Stourbridge Sub-registration district: Kingswinford ED, institution, or vessel: 1 Neighbors: View others on page Household schedule number: 73 & 74 Household Members: Name Age Henry Rose 2 Jane Rose 27 Source Citation: Class: RG9; Piece: 2069; Folio: 7; Page: 14 Kingswinford isn't all that far from West Bromwich. Hi Kath Thanks for that info. You might be right about him lying on his marriage cert. 'cos he says his age is same as his wife's so I've taken that with a pinch of salt and searched 5 years either side, but still not turned up anything. He could also be lying about where he was born too :-( It could just be that he wasn't registered which is why I'm trying to see if I can track down parish records after 1837 to see if he was baptised. I keep hoping that someday, someone, somewhere, in this great wide world contacts me to say they have a John Rose (glass maker + father of Henry) in their tree and can shed light on where he originates from :-) Mary

Hi Mary Hope you don't mind, but I'm adding a reply just incase I can help you later. I have a rose family dotted around Bham, mainly Harborne, which I think came under Staffs. And although I haven't yet found a Henry, John or Jane, you just never know! I've got 2 kiddies off school today, poorly, so doubt if I can get much time to look for you. But I will definately keep you in mind when I am researching my Rose's. Mandy x
