Reg, His wife was Margaret and I think he was born in Abbey Cumberland in 1783 . She was born in 1791 in Brampton. In the 1851 census they also had a son William living with them. Heather |

Do you have any additional info that would help to trace him in 1861? Reg |

Sorry guys, had to make tea for my girls. Reggie - I found the Pack Horse in the 1851 & 1841 census and a directory for 1847 but not in the directory for 1858. Thanks Linda - I will check it out. I was wondering if John Armstrong had died by 1861. Heather |

Try googling. If you can't find anything online, you may find the relevant county records office/archive/local history centre has information. |

Have you tried to find it on 1881 census? That would narrow the time scale. Reg |

Can someone please let me know any information they may have on the Pack Horse that was situated in Market Place Brampton Cumbria. It was run by a John Armstrong in the 1840/50's. When was it closed and was it knocked down? Any information would be gratefully received. Thanks Heather |
