Hi All, I am very new to this and was looking for some help or tips on finding the parents of my grandfather, All I have is his Name George Campbell James, born 10/03/1912 Toxteth Park, Toxteth Park Central, he married Eileen M James in 1939 at St Silas, Liverpool but have no further info to help me go back. I have an entry written down 8b 388 which I dont know what is. I would appreciate any help. |

Alan, If you look here for his birth reference you will see his mother's maiden name was Rogers. http://www.ancestry.*co.uk/search/rectype/vital/freebmd/bmd.aspx Remove the * Will check FreeBMD now for a Rogers/James marriage. Rose |

You can check the birth/Marriages/Death indexes for free at the site portland rose gave you. There is a George C James registered in 1912 (in the 2nd Quarter thats the April/May/Jun Months) at Toxteh Park 8b 350 mother maiden name Rogers. With this reference number you can order the birth certificate. You can do this online at www.gro.gov.uk for £7 remember to tick the box that you have the General Register Office Index is known (thats the 8b 350 bit, 8b is the volume and 350 is the page number) |
