Try www'thornber' net scroll down to search box and type in Combermere Abbey, it comes up usually first site that gives a very long list of the memberf of the Cotton family that lived there. t h o r n b e r if I put the letters together it looks like a different word |

one of my great aunts worked at this Abbey in the 1880s as a Laundry Maid. They had a huge staff, totalling about 40 in all, but what I Iwould like to know is! who were the family living there at the time? their names are not on the census, only the staff, but there are a couple of visitors (3 IN ALL) 'IN THE EMPLOY OF THE EMPRESS OF AUSTRIA' so I guess the owners must have been pretty important. i bet that theres someone here who knows all about this ABBEY which is situated in the WHITCHURCH AREA of CHESHIRE.
