Help!! Hi could someone please look up in the 1861 and 1871 census for me.I am looking for William Halsey bn 1865 Westhampnett union,which i presume is the workhouse also looking for his mother Emma Halsey?All it states on his bapism record is mother Emma Halsey.In 1881 William was lodging Oving.I have a sneaky suspicion that Emma was born Birdham Sussex but cant be sure. Assuming that Emma might be married by 1871, I looked for Emma born within a year of 1847 in Birdham. Only two: 1. Registration district: East Preston Sub-registration district: Littlehampton Civil Parish: Climping Ecclesiastical parish: Climping County/Island: Sussex Name: Emma Blunden Age: 25 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1846 Relation: Wife Spouses's Name: Thomas age 29 Gender: Female Where born: Birdham, Sussex and 2. Registration district: Westhampnett Sub-registration district: Manhood Civil Parish: Birdham Town: Birdham Emma Mant Age: 25 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1846 Relation: Wife Spouses's Name: William Where born: Birdham, Sussex Household: William Mant 34 Emma Mant 25 Ada Mant 6 Sarah Mant 3 William E Mant 3 months This seems more likely, as its in the same reg district as William Halsey's birth, except that he isn't here, and Ada would have been born the same year as him.
