If I would like to get my grandfather's service records from the second world war, Can I? My Aunt is still alive and I am not sure of the closure dates, ie, 30 years, 50 years, 75 or a 100 years. I know I have to write to Glasgow, but I am not sure whether to put it from me or to write the letter for my Aunt for her to sign (she has had a stroke and does not find writing easy - reading is fine though) Anyone know? Thanks Abigail |

Thanks both of you! I will get onto that today. My aunt is really looking forward to finding out whatever she can. I think it is going to be quite emotional as we lost him about six years ago now and she has been slowly taking in the details that she never knew about him. Some men were very secretive about their war service. Another case is my other grandad. I am REALLY looking forward to finding his records as I know that he got about quite a bit! Thanks again Abigail |
