Thankyou very much for your help, Kathleen. All done and dusted now.Gone to correct site and ordered the certificates at £7 each. Sue.

I've just been googling and I think the site you probably found was this one:- BMD-certificates(.)co.uk Don't use them. They DO say £25. They are obviously just rip-off merchants. Kath. x

Thanks Kathleen, I googled Alton Register Office and went through a site that I thought was the Register Office. On reflection, I think it must be one of those money-grabbing sites pretending to be the one that you want!!!(If that makes sense). I've just tried again and I think I have found the right one. Phew!! As you can probably tell I'm fairly new at all this--thank goodness I knew the price of certificates from GRO or I could have easily been conned. Sue.

I've just gone through the ordering process (just filling in rubbish details) and it still says £7 for the certificate. I think you must have done something wrong. Kath. x

I went onto the page which says 'Ordering certificates online' and then clicked the 'Family History' link and it gives a list of prices. I didn't get round to finding a page where you can actually order the certificates. Kath. x

Kathleen, was that for ordering online? Sue

I didn't actually get around to ordering any certificates. I took one look at the prices quoted and scarpered!!!!!! Think I will stick with the GRO---at least you know what is what with them! Sue.

I've just checked the prices they quote on their website and it says £7. Kath. x

How many is 'some certificates'? There must be a price guideline on the website. I've only paid £7 for my local register office certs, same as on GRO.

It was £25.00 for standard delivery---upto 15 days. Priority delivery was £60.00!!!!!

It doesn't sound right. Do they have a priority delivery service like the GRO? The GRO charge £28 for that so perhaps there is something you have ticked by mistake. Kath. x

I have just gone to order some certificates online from Alton (Hampshire) register office and the minimum price that they are quoting is £25.00. I thought local offices charged the same as GRO, or am I doing something wrong? Sue.
