The original register my have more (it might be with the church if it was a small church or they may have deposited it) I looked at transcriptions for one of my local parishes and some entries had a mark next to them indicating that the register had other info in them as only basic / standardised info was transcribed. |

Hi Lunar Thanks for the reply. Someone kindly did a look up at Wiltshire records office for the marriage & no father's names were shown. Would the church have more info? Thanks for the offer re lookups, but I do have credits for FamilyHistory - my problem is knowing which one could be her! Pity she has such a popular name. Angela |

You need to look for a baptism to go back more. If you are lucky Elizabeth's father will be recorded on the marriage record but you might need to contact the church and ask about that. Family History have 35 Baptisums for Elizabeth Brown (and varients) between 1795 and 1810. I have some credit for the site that I don't need so could do the odd lookup.. 1. Elizabeth Jemison BROAWN found in Cornwall Baptism Index 1 entry in Cornwall during 1805 details £0.07 2. Betsy BROWN found in Cornwall Baptism Index 2 entries in Cornwall during 1800 details £0.14 3. Betty Serjant BROWN found in Cornwall Baptism Index 1 entry in Cornwall during 1795 details £0.07 4. Elizabeth BROWN found in Cornwall Baptism Index 24 entries in Cornwall between 1795 and 1810 details £1.68 or list places £0.50 5. Elizabeth Allan BROWN found in Cornwall Baptism Index 1 entry in Cornwall during 1809 details £0.07 6. Elizabeth Bennetts BROWN found in Cornwall Baptism Index 1 entry in Cornwall during 1805 details £0.07 7. Mary Elizabeth BROWN found in Cornwall Baptism Index 1 entry in Cornwall during 1808 details £0.07 8. Here is what I know: Elizabeth Brown b c1800 Cornwall. Married James Hibberd 1823 Salisbury, Wilts. (Fathers’ names not listed). Witnesses Mary Barnes, William Burbidge. Had children George, Elizabeth, James, Caroline, Charles. A Lucy Brown was witness on George’s marriage cert in 1848. Elizabeth died in the 1850s in Salisbury, Wilts. Any ideas gratefully received.
