Yes, that is why i have requested if any one has any access to census could they check it for me, cant assume anything in this game LOL regards Pat

it could just be that it was mis writen in the index. FreeBMD transcribed it as 231 but the image deffinately looks like 239. And their was only 1 born in Stroud that quarter so odds are it would be the right one but might be worth cross checking with the census and/or a siblings birth cert (if budget will allow.).

On the invoice they send with the cert they have crossed out what i ordered and wrote in the other reference.

this might be a dumb question but:- How do you know that the certificate you have is a different page number?? Certificates don't tend to have the page number written on them. Just looked at the BMD index image... only 1 Arthur Talylor born in Stroud in Sep 1853, Vol 6a Page 23? (could be 231 but it accutally looks like 239

I recieved a cert today and it is not the same reference as the one i ordered, I ordered Arthur Taylor born Stroud 1852 Sept 6a 231 reference obtained through freebmd. Now the cert i recieved is Arthur Taylor born Stroud 1852 Sept 6a 259. Is he the right one do you think ?? I have his parents on the cert as Eliza Taylor (nee Matthews) and his father as Peter Taylor and his occupation as an Inn Keeper. There address shows as Birches Painswick, this is in Gloucestershire. I would appreciated if anyone could look up this family on any census they may have so i can obtain futher information about this family. Thank You
