Yes i have checked IGI but its somebodys maiden name i am after and it doesnt show on IGI |

Do you know the date? I may be going to Worcester RO next week (might even be tomorrow if I can get a half-hol from Her Indoors), and they have the PR on film. |

Clive, Thank you for your offer. I will explain my dilemma....My Gt Gt Grandfather William Burrows was B. 1834 old swinford...his parents are William Burrows B 1809 in Sutton Warks, his mother was Sarah B 1811, when i looked for a marriage of William Burrows and Sarah in worcestershire, there are 2 william Burrows marrying 2 Sarahs, one being Sarah Powell Marriage 17/04/1831 at Kidderminster the other being Sarah Parsons being 1833 in worcester, so my thinkinng was if the parish records show williams birth it would state sarahs maiden name. other siblings are Sarah B 1836 old swinford John B 1844 Old swinford Joseph B 1853 old Swinford Hope this isnt too complicated.....and lets pray yr wife lets you out lol Many thanks Janet. |

If I have found the right family in 1861 census (RG9; Piece: 2185; Folio: 23; Page: 1), Sarah was born in Stourbridge. I would have said that there was very little chance that either of your IGI matches are the right person: Worcester was a long journey from Stourbridge, and Kidderminster folk have only ever married each other (local joke!). I would expect that you'll find that she was a local girl, married at St Mary's, but I wouldn't hold out much hope that the baptism records will show her maiden name. You would probably do better to get the BC of one of the later children: there is a Joseph Burrows registered in Stourbridge in 1853 (STO/025/105 is the local reference, register at Dudley), or John in 1844 (STO/010/265, as before). |
