SORTED - East Ward, Westmorland - Register Office

Does anyone know which town the register office for the East Ward Registration District would have been located in. I have just got a certificate for a marriage in 1887 that took place at the Register Office but they only give the district and don't mention the town it's located in. Cheers Cath |

Just looked for you.........these are the main towns..there's a long list of villages etc.............. EAST WARD REGISTRATION DISTRICT Registration County : Westmorland. Created : 1.7.1837. Abolished : 1.10.1937 (succeeded by Westmorland North district Appleby; Kirkby Stephen; Orton. GRO volumes : XXV (1837-51); 10b (1852-1937). Do you know where the bride lived? Reg |

Reg Bride lived in Ravenstonedale and groom in Tebay. Both small locations I believe. cath |

Kendal Record Office have confirmed that in 1887 the Register Office for East Ward was located at Kirkby Stephen. |
