hi all, Im looking for WILLIAM FRANKS married to ETHEL MAUD, i think her name used to be TOZER, but not quite sure. They had a son born in EASTRY KENT in 1901 so im hoping they are still there by the time the 1901 census came around. I cant give you any ages or anything else, apart from WILLIAM who appears to have been in the Army, as he was a COLOUR SGT in the RMHJ, whatever that is, when his son married in 1924. There are my son in laws family and he has no records of his family and now has decided to try and find out about them. so here I AM SEEKING YOUR HELP. I forgot to mention that Ive found a marriage in EASTRY KENT, dec 1900. Thanks very much. TED.

what is the name of the son born 1900 ?

There is this birth registration - which if correct will not help in finding the couple in 1901. Births Dec 1901 Christopher Joseph W Franks Eastry 2a 1029 Are you sure that William married Ethel? There is a marriage for a William Thomas Franks in 1897 also in Eastry registration district. Maureen

1901 census was taken 31st March........so, as Maureen said, the Dec birth doesn't help. Reg

I think you're going to have to work backwards on this one...........find the birth(s) of any of William's known descendants, and go from there. You need to be certain that you are following the correct line. What was the name of the son whose marriage cert you have? And how old was he? Reg

Got to agree with Reggie. Get the birth certificate of the son that married in 1924 and work backwards. The 1901 chap is listed as single. Good luck, Maureen

Hi,im afraid so, im going to have to get the birth cert for his son CHRISTOPHER JOSEPH WILLIAM FRANKS born Dec Qtr 1901 and check to see who his mom was, i already know who his dad is. in 1924 when CHRIS got married he gave his dads occ as COLOUR SERGEANT, RMLI (deceased) what ever that means, I made it out to be something like ROYAL MILITARY LIGHT INFANTRY or something like that. its a really bad copy of the marriage cert, very hard to read. but it sounded right to me that he would have been a pte or something similar in the Army in 1901 so I guessed wrong.
