I have tried to google but seem to only find links to purchase map books. As search engine results are often different depending on the country you are searching from. I 'm wondering if any UK residents may have some decent map / street directory links for Nottingham ?

Definately a big place (kind of why i need a map lol) I'm trying to check an address from birth cert which looks like it may be two written as one. where born states: 31 Anthorpe Grove, Vernon Avenue 11.D, Sub district: Bulwell County of Nottingham C.B 2006 maps i have come across show Anthorpe and Vernon as seperate locations a few meters from each other.

Bulwell is quite a distance from the centre of Nottingham, I don't have old maps of Nottingham but happy for you to run anything by me if I can help. You might get some help here if you e-mail the editor http://www.local-history(.)co(.)uk/nlha/nottshistorian.html Elaine Had a look on the net and I remember Vernon Avenue from way back when I lived that side and it also comes up as Old Basford. This is an area on the way to Bulwell, hope that helps

I have a few birth certs that denote addresses in a similar manner, I think it was done when the street involved was a small one so it was done to show exactly where the street is if you see what I mean? Incidentally, those particular streets are in the Bulwell registration district but are in the suburb of BASFORD. If you'd like photos at any time, PM me!

I know this is no help, but i got a brilliant 1883 ordnance survey map of Derbyshire on cd from Digital Archives of Warrington, it is very detailed and made up of over 700 map sheets and is designed to be printed at A3 for each sheet. this is the same as the Alan Godfrey maps, but he only puplishers a tiny part of the maps

Have you looked at the GENMAPS website? Also Alan Godfrey will almost certainly have maps of Nottingham, they are excellent quality and quite inexpensive. Do a websearch if the URL gets corrupted by GR. By the way, I take it others are not able to get a response from the OS old-maps.co.uk site this weekend?
