Please be aware UK records have sometimes incorrectly put Puxley as: Pusley Puseley Luxley There may of course be other incorrect spellings!? The list seems endless and complicates the tracing process somewhat. Pugsley (adams family not or maybe?!), etc Cheers. Roger Puxley |

There are millions of them. They wrote what they thought they heard. It keeps us on our toes though! |

Not unique. I'm fairly sure that there can be very few surnames that have retained the same spellings and have never been misrecorded, misread or mistranscribed. I have for example Maling/Mealing/Mealins/Melin as well as Chouns, Chounes, Chowndes, Chowns and Chown, just to choose two of the rarer surnames in my tree. More common names aren't exempt - I also have Grey/Gray and Mathews/Matthews (and on one occasion Maththews!) |

The worst one I have is the Cottrell family in my OH's tree. Cotterill, Cottrill, Cotrill, Cotterell, Coterell... the list goes on and on! Kate. |
