Hi Rachel, My family were from Wicklow and aside from the English census I didn't have much to go on. If you haven't already try familysearch(.)org. They have pre 1837 BMD's from all over the world, including Ireland. It helped me. I also got help from the Records board. People on there offer BIVRI (British Isles Vital Record Index) and found some of my Irish family's births and marriages in various Irish counties. If you haven't already I suggest you try those both. Thanks Abigail Have looked as far back on census (1881) as can now and it only says ireland, so heavens knows where i go from there! Rachel |

Hi Rachel, Some of my lot did too. I found out from the 1881 census. Then I looked for their marriage in England as it was a bit of an unusual name. I found them after a bit of legwork and confirmed the place they came from but not when they arrived here yet. So.... what I'm trying to say is that I found out by tracing back through the census entries! Regards Abigail |

Hi all. pretty new to genealogy but have managed to get back to 1870's but family all orginated from Ireland and not sure where- poss Wicklow and Dublin. Where do I go from here? Any help would be much appreciated. Rach |
