Hello Alexandra, You mentioned a PAF file and GEDCOM files. If I asked my husband to download the PAF file from the Family tree site would it take up a lot of room and is it possible to save what I create onto a CD? I am on a mission to get this lot pinned down but it just isn't going to happen on the back of a roll of wallpaper!! Thanks Abigail

Thanks All! Jennifer, my husband is looking at getting a Mac at the moment. It is one that the computer is inside the flat screen instead of having a tower. It would make this study look so sleek! Anyway till he makes his mind up I am stuck with not bothering to input people who make no sense with their position in my tree. Noone will make any connections if I cannot get them to show up with their siblings! Regards Abigail

I also have instances of cousins marrying in my tree . I use the 'Reunion' program on my mac to connect them with no trouble . Don't see why it can't be done on the GR site as it's a fairly common happening . However my email to the GR support team brought the response 'unfortunately it is not currently possible to link the same individual so they only appear once in your tree . You will need to add these as separate individuals ' .

Unfortunately it's a well-known feature/limitation of the GR tree program that it can only cope with one relationship between two people. So if cousins marry you have to put them in twice. If you do have an offline tree program and get the relationships correct, uploading a GEDCOM will then show the correct relationships on your GR tree. Remember that uploading a new tree will delete what was there before. J

Hello Alexandra, No I haven't got anything except what is on here and what is on paper. It is my husband's computer and has been so sick lately that any other programmes that I have thought about having had had to be shelved for the time being as he needs it for work, and I am not allowed to upset it again! Hi Abigail Do you have an offline family tree software programme? If so you can 'merge' duplicate people on the tree to ensure that connections where cousins marry couple up properly so you're not repeating people. You can download Personal Ancestry File (PAF) from the FamilySearch website for free. Then you just need to export your GEDCOM file from this site, import it into PAF (or any other family tree software you want) and you should be able to merge duplicates. Then once its all sorted out you just import that new GEDCOM file back to Genes Reunited and its all sorted. I've had to do that a few times with cousins marrying and men marrying their dead wifes sisters! If you need help, give me a shout.

My gg grandparents were first cousins. I want to show the sibling group of my ggg grandparents but it will not recognise the brothers and sisters as the ones already in the tree. When I click on siblings I get just one on their own each time, which I think means that their parents must be entered as eight different individuals with identical details. Is there a trick to the order you put people into the tree? I have a reasonable number of people and I am not keen to delete and start again really. Can anyone help? Thanks Abigail
