	Hi sarah, for australia, depending when they arrived and to what state in australia, depends on where to search. There are site for assisted emmergrants and different ones for convict transporation. Your best bet to start off would be the national archives of australia, http://naa12(.)naa(.)gov(.)au/Login(.)htm - then tab on guest, then put ancesters name in as key word. My grandad comes up on here including dob and ship name, I am not sure how far back it goes. You could also try the state library, they have alot of info on arrives, I have used the state library for new south wales www(.)sl(.)nsw(.)gov(.)au - they have a family history section on their site. You can also use the 'ask a librarian', under the services section to do a online request for persons listed on previous electoral rolls if you need to pinpoint where they lived, Louisa
