I've found a relative on their and would like more information. As im not sure where else to look, is it a good idea to order off here and does it give you much more information? Thanks Nicola

It depends what it is really. I found my great grandfather's fatal railway accident on the Blacksheep Index and also another accident for his name two years earlier. I already had a newspaper report of the inquest which gave a lot of detail, but I thought the official railway report might give more, so I ordered both reports mentioned on the Black Sheep Index. I was very disappointed as I paid £10 for two A4 photocopies, which both had just a very small paragraph about my great-grandfather and gave me less information than I had from the newspaper. However the site does warn that some reports are very short, and some more detailed, so you won't know unless you order it. Kath. x

Hi Nicola, This morning I received copies of two articles via the black sheep index relating to one of my more illusive ancestors, so for me, the cost was well worth it as the reports of his misdoings solved a number of little mysteries. However, for the £8 you get a copy of a newspaper article mentioning your relative. The problem is, until you get the article you have no idea how useful the information is going to be and how big a part your relative has in the article. I know there are other people on this site who were dissapointed in what they received. It might be worth having a look at their comments so you can make your own mind up. Sue

Hi Nicola, Try the Times Digital Archives, is possible the report was in the Times. Found one of my rellies on the Blacksheep index & the dates matched with the info I found in the Times. Cost me nothing to copy! Hope this helps, June x
