It doesn't say on familysearch or Ancestry, but either way, anything in Greenwich would be in the relevant archives - either the Greenwich local history centre OR the London Metropolitan Archives, I guess. Looks like this place was a school run by Matilda Joye, not a publicly-owned institution. |

I have just found my Grandfather Thomas Smith and his brother James in the 1881 census listed as 'Orphans' aged 7 and 8 at George Terrace, Bonham Rd, Greenwich. I can't see an actual name for this' Orphanage' - can anyone give advice on how I would find out more info ? If I could locate this place maybe I would find info on their parents - John James Smith and Mary Ann[Cox] .... thanks in advance Eileen |
