No Hot Matches to Smith?

Ok, I know this will sound odd but I've just been going through my latest batch of Hot Matches (from last week). i've got matches to all sorts of names including Walker etc, but not one hot (or not) match to any of the Smith's in my tree. Is it a blip, or has everyone else removed every trace of this name? Barbara

Sorry had to laugh :-) I have hot matches to people who are not even in my tree.

I had plenty of those, as well as matches to trees that have been deleted. Just thought it was funny that smith didn't come up. I don't mind you laughing at all

Barbara, I think the Hot Matches system just picks names at random out of your tree to find matches for now, where it used to go in alphabetical order, so it may choose some of the Smiths another time. Most of the names it picked out for me this time were very obscure relatives indeed, whose names I didn't recognise until I looked them up in my tree, so even if there was a proper match against them it wasn't very exciting! (I mean people who married my fourth cousin three times removed, and stuff like that.) Kate.

That's because I've got them all, lol, Just had a quick look and anyone with 2 or more matches then every match is a Smith. Only actually have one Smith in my tree!!!

Thanks Kate makes a bit more sense now, as I did think it was alphabetical Barbara

If Hot Matches has now been made more random I might turn it back on. It was a complete waste of time - mostly Browns of no known birthplace 'matching' to my 3 lonely Browns. J
