IGI question

If there are no records for a particular town recorded on the IGI does that mean that the church or churches in that town have not made their records available for the Mormon church to copy? Or is it possible that the records for such a town may be ordered and viewed at the family history centre but are not available on line? I am trying to find a christening record and have been told that none of the records from that town are available on the IGI and am wondering how I can find the information that I need.

the site is updated all the time and some records make way for the new ones, They dont have to be on their site for you to view ,if you have a local Mormon church with a library they can order in the micrifiches for you.you would have to contact them & order & make the appointment to view. i believe its only a minimal cost You wont find Catholic records or there tho cos the Catholic church refuses them access because of their way of baptising people after death as Mormons regardless of their religion in life Shirley

Christine the only records on the IGI for Barrowden are marriages between 1603-1699. If you google 'Barrowden Rutland family history' there are some sites that look useful. Georgina.

Thanks, I will try that and also try phoning the family history centre and see if they can access the christening records. I have a nagging feeling that somewhere I have been told that the Mormons have not had access to the Barrowden church records, but if they do have some marriages, then maybe that info was incorrect.
