Reggie I hadn't realised that Annie had a different second name, I had tried to look for a marriage for her under Annie Eliza. I remember when I was younger and living with my Nan in Gloucestershire during the war , a lady called Anniie coming to visit, now presume it was Annie Lewis Will see if I can find a marriage for Annie Eth, perhaps she had children. Many thanks Reggie for your help John

On the marriage cert of William John Lewis 14th Feb 1914, it states he was 26, married in Gloucester thats all I had to go on but I know he originated from Wales but didn't know where. His father William a hairdresser and Grandad was a dental surgeon. The reason of not knowing anything about him is that he and my Nan split up when my dad was a baby. He went back to Wales and all contact lost of him

Hello Rose Actually I have tried all those. Sent for them and asked if mother was Mary Jones, the reply came back no, I paid the £4 each for the reply but didn't get any certificates. Perhaps I will try again and just ask for William Lewis with a mother Mary Jones. Thanks for your reply. John

Hi Reggie Actually I have found the maiden name of my grandad William John b. 1888. Mary Jones . Found it through a younger sister b 1904 . I got her marriage cert to start with to see where she married, then went from there. 1 child from that marriage who is now dead , she had no children. I only met them once in the 60's. I have been given to understand that Oliver had children so hoping there is someone from the family who I could get in touch with, other than that I do not know anything about an of the Lewis's. Its been so difficult to get the right Lewis and so far taken me over 2yrs to get where I have., but still can't seem to get the right cert for Grandad William John Cheers John

John I assume that your quest for William's birth cert is partly to learn his mother's maiden name............ Oliver's cert would fulfil the same function.........and there are fewer of them to choose from!! I think this may well be 'your' Oliver............. Name: Oliver Lewis Year of Registration: 1893 Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec District: Merthyr Tydfil County: Breconshire, Glamorgan, Mid Glamorgan Volume: 11a Page: 596 With mum's maiden name established, you could then, perhaps, trace her in earlier censuses,,,,,,,,,,, Reg

If these are living people, you would probably get more joy on the trying to find board. Assuming they are..........try b4u, or 192............ If, on the other hand, this is a pre-1901 family, some dates would be helpful............... Reg
