Hi Sheila. Thank you very much for the site; I've not seen that in my 'travels'. It is quite interesting! Hi Claire. Oddly enough, I believe I've run across Bradfield in the past. I will have to check out why that name seems familiar. Thank you both very much. :)

Hello Lisa, The Ibbotson name is also very popular in the Wadsley area of Sheffield stretching out to Bradfield on the outskirks. Regards Claire

Hello John. Reseaching from across the world is rather difficult. Everything is important to me, including what things are like now. It makes researching come alive. Thank you for letting me know what Sheffield is like now. :) Hello Carol. Thank you for all of the information. I hadn't seen the Sheffield Flood website. My Ibbotson's were in Canada before the flood, but I'm sure their relatives were involved. Thank you for all of your help.

No really much help. I grew up near Sheffield but moved south for uni. Sheffield is a vastly cleaner place now, though nearly all the heavy industry has gone. There should be many web links to the Sheffield cutlery trade.

John, thank you very much for your help. It is greatly appreciated.

It's a bit of a needle and haystack question. There were thousands of cutlery firms in Sheffield, including 'little mesters', one-man bands that specialised in particular parts of the manufacturing process. The ?Guild? of Master Cutlers might have a website.

Wondering if anyone in the Sheffield area knows anything about the Ibbotson cutlery firm. I've found material on google regarding the Ibbotson's and cutlery - just wondering if anyone in that area (or anywhere else) would have firsthand knowledge. Thank you. (Re Ibbotson Brothers, etc.)
