Ann was on the 81 and 91 census as being born in Plymouth around 1838 ~ 1841 Thanks She is on a birth cert as Annie Atkins formerly Steer (Stear) Not sure if the letter is an e or an a !!!! I have tried to find a death entry for Frederick but as he was listed as a Gunner in the 16th Brigade of the RA I assume that he was fighting abroad possibly ? I couldn't find his son William on the 1901 census and then discovered he was fighting in the Boer war in South Africa

If he's listed as deceased on his sons birth certificate then that narrows the search period immensely! Try to find his death entry which will also give you his status, address at time of death etc. then work backwards based on that info.

Hi. Could anyone have a census look-up for Frederick William Atkins born Plymouth in 1855 ? I can't seem to find any info anywhere re: birth, marriage to Ann Steer (Stear) or death. Ann does show up on the 1881 and 1891 census in Plymouth with children as a widower and I wondered if Frederick was on an earlier census. I know he was dead by 1880 as he was on a birth certificate for William as Gunner 16th Brigade RA (deceased). No idea what that is but I guess it is Royal Artillery ? Any idea where they were in 1870ish ? Thanks in advance Anthony
