Spot on regarding approximate dates. But FTM also lets you put Before and After, which GR can't interpret. |

Following a couple of threads about importing and exporting gedcoms. Just a general warning about the process. Both Legacy & P.A.F and some other programs will allow you to enter what's called non standard gedcom in the date field, this is where you enter a date and you put in the program something like, c 1881 or 30th May 1881 or 30-05-81. Some programs will accept this form of the date but as it's strictly non gedcom format if you try and import that gedcom into another family history program or onto the GR website, those dates will be ignored and left out of the imported file. GR uses the FTM standard for gedcom import & export and the FTM standard is bang on, FTM will not let you enter such a date as those above into the program in the first place but other programs will. The standard gedcom format for a date is Abt or About, or 30 May 1881. Just a tip so check those dates before importing or exporting a gedcom. Ron www*genealogyprinters*com |
