Miriam (surname unknown) and her mother Annie WRIGHT(married name TEA) lived in Rhyl 1930s. Annie probably lived there up to about 1948-50. At some time previous to that, Annie believed to have lived in Liverpool. Miriam born 1906 - was certainly with Annie in Rhyl in 1933/4. Did Miriam marry? Are Miriam and Annie on anybody's tree? Family have been searching for many years to find what happened to them both. Annie was my paternal grandmother. Any help/suggestions welcome. Barbara

Barbara, there is no entry on FreeBMD for a Miriam Tea birth in 1906 (or at all). Was her surname Tea or Wright? If it was Tea, then you should be able to find out whether she ever married just by slogging through the GRO marriage indexes quarter-by-quarter, but if it was Wright then I suppose there would be too many possibles to choose from. Unless... did she have a middle name? As for Annie, it should be easy enough for you to slog through the death indexes quarter-by-quarter looking for her death, just time-consuming. And of course, if you don't find a marriage for Miriam, do the same looking for Miriam's death (though again, if her surname was Wright, there will be lots to choose from.) If you know Miriam's exact date of birth, you can search for her death post-1984 on ancestry using first name and date of birth and get a list of possibles. If you want to find out whether anybody on here has them in their tree, you would be best to use the 'Quick search' near the top of the screen. Oh, and you could try going to look through the electoral roll for Rhyl to find out when one or both of them ceased to be listed. (That should also give you Miriam's surname) Kate.

Thanks for your replies. I have got Annie Wright's marriage to Charles Frederick TEA in Oct 1903 Coventry, and also have the birth of their son in Feb 1904 in Balsall Heath. I even have contact with the TEA grandchildren of that marriage, but no-one knows what happened to Annie and Miriam - other than we know that both my dad and his half-brother (born Feb 1904) visited Annie in Rhyl in 1930s and again in 1940s. She was believed to be running a guest house in Rhyl but no-one knows what the address was. At the 1933/4 visit, my eldest sister said that Miriam was there - but whether she was living there, or was married, is another matter. My eldest sister was about 9 at the time and said Miriam was 'a young woman' to her. Tea verbal family history has it that Annie 'came back' with baby Miriam when the son born 1904 was between 2 and 2and a half years old. She then left the marital home, taking Miriam with her, with a man who wasn't her husband to 'start a guest house in Rhyl'. My verbal family history believes Annie lived in Liverpool for a while before going to Rhyl, but that is all very vague, other than she was living as Annie WRIGHT at that stage. So I don't actually know Miriam's year of birth, but from all of the above, would put it at 1906 or late 1905. I have checked out freebmd and GRO registers for Miriam's birth, but she isn't registered under TEA - however the one in Burnley under TEE looks interesting in 1905 - I shall check that out). WRIGHT is a very common name in the Rhyl area, and I have visited Hawarden Record Office and checked out the electoral rolls, but as Annie may have been living under another surname entirely to WRIGHT or TEA, and Miriam wouldn't have had the right to vote until the time when the electoral rolls are not made available at the Hawarden Records Office because of their frailty, I have been unable to confirm either of them being there. I've been gradually emailing people on Genes who have Miriams with surnames and dates of birth that correspond to those I've found on GRO registers, but no luck so far. I placed a message on Trying to Find board under surname TEA some time ago (2004) but no joy. Will place one on WRIGHT board today. Miriam may have had another first name - just to add to the difficulty. A trawl through GRO registers under WRIGHT hasn't really helped as I'm not sure she was living under the name WRIGHT. I have had a researcher in Rhyl area check out some addresses that were guest houses at the relevant period, but without success. Will keep on trying. Barbara

I've noted the details of your Miriam, as I'm looking for a Miriam (mines Miriam Emma Penny -no DoB or Parents details ). My one was definately in Cardiff from 1937 and maybe earlier. Good luck hunting your Miriam.
