Hi Maureen, Glad you got it sorted out, the forum is really very good, there are real experts on there that will work with you to remove all sorts of spyware/malware/virus'. It is quite normal for ad-aware to pick up critical objects. Nowadays almost all sites will use tracking cookies to follow your movements around a site or even across sites. As long as they are/can be removed I would not worry. Keith |

Keith and Loz Thanks very much for your help. Uninstalled Spyhunter, downloaded and installed Spybot, then ran it. Came up with 23 Red Threats, probably done the wrong thing dut deleted the lot!! (It did say they were real threats) I then ran Norton through again and it seems to be clear. I will keep the Forum add Keith - you never know, and its nice to have something like that to fall back on. There was nothing showing on add/remove about movieland. Something i wasnt expecting, ran Adaware last night, as i normally do before putting computer to bed,, and it came up with 5 critical objects. I had only had my email account on since running the Norton through and didnt expect to find anything on there.. Maureen |

Windows XP has it's own version of a spyware removal program, go to the Microsoft site and search for Windows Defender, it's free and very very good. Carol www*genealogyprinters*com |

Hi there I don't claim to be an expert, thought i'd mention it. I've found that norton will pick up some spyware but will offer to remove it. The only time It has not removed something is if the spyware is attached to a program that is also in use such as I.E. which has to be closed down before it can be removed. I also use spybot serach and destroy and ad-aware which remove different things. Also check your add and remove to see if there is an installer for some things. I've also check those security website advisors and one thing they do say is if you see a question that matches your own don't take the advice from that but ask your own question as the advice they give is specific to that other persons computer. |

Maureen, security is not really my forte, but if you go to that forum, they will definately assist you, you may well be surprised what else they find lol. One thing they will ask you to do is download HiJackthis, a small programme that checks your comp. From this they can see where things are and correct them. Good luck Keith got to go out for a while, will check later how you are doing. |

Hi Maureen, I personnaly would not buy Spyhunter, there are programmes out there that will remove them for free. SpyBot for one and Ad-Aware for another. Google them and download. Run the installers and update the definitions. Then run the programmes. This should hopefully get rid of any junk. Down worry, if all else fails I use this forum for assistance http://forums.techguy.org , see the security forum, you have to register but its free. They are all volunteers so may take a little time to answer you, but will cure ANY problems you have. Good luck Keith |

Keith Are you there?? Talk about scarey Went into website and there is a whole lot of info, amongst it - Manual removal process is difficult, you run the risk of distroying your computer, recommend automatic removal - free!! So i downloaded the automatic scanner which turned out to be Spyhunter. I then ran a scan and it came up with the following Cookies:- 3 AdBureua Media Sex Files 5 All Win Active and to do with Y.a.h.o.o (which i use for e-mails) community/education/photo's/photos url. Home and Living/ personal publishing/ url It then tells me if i want to delete any of them i have to BUY Spyhunter!! I have already got spyware blaster on here. What do i do now? Any ideas? Evidently movieland sends a constant stream of pop-ups and then asks you to pay for the services and keeps sending pop-ups about it. It also says it can destroy computer. I would just like to add, i havent the faintest about computers, all i am doing is repeating what is in front of me, i dont understand half of it!! Maureen |

Hi Maureen, It sounds to me as if you may have some sort of spyware that Norton is detecting. To remove movieland, take a look at the link below . http://www.movieland-removal(.)com.removal-instructions(.)com/removemovieland.html Hope this helps Keith (remove brackets from .) |

Once in a while Norton do an automatic scan of my computer. On the last 2 occasions it has come up with. ALERT Non-Viral Threats Detected If you dont want to be advised about these threats again click exclude. But, what is worrying me is, how do i get rid of the threat? And can/will is cause me problems? There is nothing on there to tell me how.and obviously Norton isnt doing it. The threat is called Movieland |
