Georgina, thanks for that info. Most useful. I'm going to give that a try and have a look on TNA website. Liesele

Liesele only the 1901 index of names is free on Ancestry you wont be able to view the census pages for free. If you are doing an address search you would probably find it easier to search the official 1901 census which provides an address search facility, it is pay per view and I think each image you look at will cost about 75p. http://www.1901census.nationalarchives.gov.uk/ Georgina.

Having read the threads on how to do an address search on censuses I am attempting my 1st one. I am trying to find out who was living at my grandparents address: 41 Latimer Rd, Forest Gate, West Ham. There are 20 districts to go through and each time I try to view the description Ancestry keeps on asking me to use 1 of my credits. I do not know the exact district number and certainly don't want to be wasting my credits as I have a pay per view subscription. Anyways I thought the 1901 census was for free. Am I doing something wrong, can anyone possibly help me? Liesele
