How do I find Edith...

Ideas on where to go next would be appreciated. In 1891 census George Spray and Alice are living at Keymer, in Sussex with two children - Charles W (5) and Edith (9). I have not found a marriage for George and Alice, but both were born in Battle, Sussex. Charles W, changed his name at some point to Charles Whitelock (probably the W in the Census) and if parents never married, his mother's name. I have a probable birth for Edith (Edith Alice Whitelock) 1881 Battle Mothers name Alice. Alice dies and George subsequently remarries and turns up in the 1901 census in Greenwich (and eventually emigrates to Canada), but no sign of daughter Edith - either as a Spray or a Whitelock or a marriage or death. Any help appreciated with ideas on where to look next in finding Edith after 1891 (or Charles's birth - supposedly Bexhill in Sussex)? Sorry if this should be on the 'trying to find' board

If Edith was 9 in 1891 its possible she was married by 1901 and hence listed under her married name. Alternatively, she could just be mistranscribed. Have you tried searching for just her name and birthplace and age? Have you gone through all 4 quarters of every year she could possibly have been married in the GRO indexes, or just relied on Freebmd, which isn't complete?
